The Droga wojewódzka 179 ( DW 179 ) is a Polish provincial road represented by the provinces Zachodniopomorskie and Great Poland leads. With a total length of only 41 kilometers, it provides a transport connection between the town of Piła ( Schneidemühl ) and the Droga krajowa (DK) 22 state road ( Kostrzyn nad Odrą ( Küstrin ) - Starogard Gdański ( Prussian Stargard ) - Elbląg ( Elbing ) - bis to the Polish-Russian border to Kaliningrad Oblast ( Königsberg (Prussia) )), but today it also connects DK 22 with the other two state roads leading through Piła, DK 10 (Polish-German border - Szczecin ( Stettin ) - Toruń ( Thorn ) - Płońsk ( Plönen ) and DK 11 ( Kołobrzeg ( Kolberg ) - Poznań ( Posen ) - Kluczbork ( Kreuzburg ) - Bytom ( Bytom / Upper Silesia )).

The route of DW 179 corresponds to that of the former German Reichsstraße 123 , which joins the former Reichsstraße 1 ( Aachen - Berlin - Königsberg (Prussia) - Eydtkau ) near Ruschendorf (Rusinowo) with Reichsstraße 104 ( Schneidemühl - Stettin - Lübeck ) near Schneidemühl (Piła ) Association. Between 1939 and 1945 the R 123 was taken far beyond Schneidemühl, as it did not end until Pułtusk (1941–1945 Ostenburg ) north of Warsaw .
