Edward Hibbert (born September 9, 1955 on Long Island , New York City , New York ) is an American actor and literary agent .

Life

Hibbert was born as the son of actor Geoffrey Hibbert (1920–1969) on Long Island, New York, and grew up in England, where he attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. He returned to the United States in the mid-1980s and performed on Broadway and major regional theaters. Roles in films and TV series followed, for example in Cosby , Murder Is Her Hobby and Law & Order . Hibbert became known to a large audience primarily in the role of the vain restaurant critic Gil Chesterton in the comedy series Frasier , which he played from 1993 to 2004.

In addition to his acting work, Hibbert is a partner in a literature agency and looks after a. a. Authors like Chuck Palahniuk and Christopher Bram .
