Quantum of Solace (original title Quantum of Solace ) is a computer game , whose action on the eponymous James Bond film Quantum of Solace and the predecessor Casino Royale is based. It was Activision's first James Bond game after Electronic Arts gave up the rights to the franchise.

action

The plot of the game largely follows the sequence of the two films Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale . The game starts where Casino Royale leaves off, with the pursuit of Mr. White, who was wounded in the leg by James Bond. He has to take out his men and find the data from White's organization for MI6 . 007 can arrest Mr. White at his helipad. The intro shows the chase mixed with intro scenes from the film Quantum of Solace . Bond escapes his captors in an MI6 hideout in the Italian city of Siena , where White is to be interrogated. White flees and Bond has to follow the assassin who made his escape possible through the sewers and the rooftops of Siena. Bond takes down the assassin and corrupt MI6 agent in a church. In some cases, the plot is passed on through the virtual contact interface known from the film from the MI6 headquarters, so that Bond is only controlled again in the Bregenz scenes. There he has to find a place behind the scenes of the festival in order to be able to overhear the head of the Quantum organization Dominic Greene and his members. However, the agent is discovered and has to fight his way free with a sniper rifle . It continues to Bolivia , where the ex- dictator Medrano wants to regain power with the help of Greene. With the help of Camille, 007 tries to find Greene's project in the desert by plane and crashes. A firefight with the Quantum mercenaries begins in the catacombs in the desert area . Then Bond tells Camille about Vesper and the plot switches to Casino Royale .

Casino Royale - A flashback

James Bond pursues the assassin Mollaka in Madagascar and kills him in the embassy . His trail leads him to Dimitrios in the Bahamas , who is supposed to recruit a new assassin in Miami on behalf of Le Chiffre. James Bond infiltrates an office building through the back entrance and is able to finish off Dimitrios after long fights with his men. He can only prevent the new assassin from blowing up a new aircraft prototype at Miami Airport . Since Le Chiffre has put the money of his creditors at risk, he wants to get it back through a poker game at Casino Royale in Montenegro . Bond is smuggled in, but is exposed and poisoned by Le Chiffre. In the poisoned state you have to drive James Bond to the Aston Martin before he dies. When Vesper - Bond's company - is kidnapped by Le Chiffre, 007 follows her to a hall where he is captured and tortured by Le Chiffre. Mr. White appears and kills Le Chiffre. Bond wakes up in a sanatorium . He decides to run away with Vespers. In Venice, however, Vesper has an appointment with Quantum employee Gettler in a dilapidated house. Since Bond followed her, there is the final between Gettler and his men. However, the house sinks into the water and the captured Vesper drowns in a steel cage. Here the plot switches back to Quantum of Solace .

The end in the desert

Bond and Camille discovered the Medrano desert hotel. The agent engages in a final battle with Dominic Greene and the dictator's men. With the hotel on fire, Bond must find a route through rooms and breakthroughs in the explosions to kill Medrano or save Camille. In the end, M receives the information that Greene was found dead in the desert.

Gameplay

Multiplayer

While Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows support up to 12 players, the Wii version was only programmed for four players online and offline.

Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360

  • Bond Versus: As James Bond you play against Quantum players and have to either defuse two of three bombs or kill all opponents. Bond has two lives and can track the movements of his enemies.
  • Team Conflict: MI6 players versus Quantum players.
  • Golden Gun: 100 points must be achieved by killing the enemy. One kill - one point. Owning the Golden Gun increases the hit to 6 points.
  • Bond Evasion: MI6 versus Quantum. Bond acts here as the head of the MI6 group and has to find the escape exit or kill all Quantum opponents. Quantum wins if Bond dies or does not find the exit in time.
  • Territory Control: The side that holds a control point long enough receives points.

Wii

  • Conflict: Most kills in a time limit.
  • Rush: Missions have to be completed in a time limit.
  • Team Conflict: MI6 vs. Quantum - Your team has to get the most kills.
  • Team Rush: Similar to Rush only in a team.

technology

The game was built on the Call of Duty 2 engine , which was also developed by Treyarch. A new feature is the toggle mode when exchanging fire and entrenching behind obstacles. The is Egoperspektive left and switched to a third-person view. The Wii variant was only developed by Bennox.

Version differences

Windows Live

A quantum of consolation for Windows and Xbox has been equipped with Windows Live technology. Once installed, the player must create an account on the Windows Live network (free). All game progress is saved there and you can only play the multiplayer mode over it.

music

The music for the game was composed by Christopher Lennertz . Richard Fortus wrote the title song When Nobody Loves You and interpreted it with singer Kerli .

particularities

On the PC version, after completing a mission, freely accessible MI6 rooms with the respective vehicles , characters , gimmicks and weapons (which are like a museum ) of the level are unlocked.
