El Carmen de Bolívar is located in the sub-region of Montes de María in Bolívar , 110 km southeast of Cartagena at an altitude of 152  m above sea level. NN and has an average temperature of 29 ° C. The municipality borders San Jacinto and María La Baja in the north, Oveja in the department of Sucre in the south, Zambrano and Córdoba in the east and Colosó and San Onofre in Sucre in the west .
