As a student, he became a member of the Roigel Royal Society in Tübingen in 1874 . From 1874 to 1878 he studied classical philology and philosophy in the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Tübingen . From 1900 he was significantly involved in the creation of an accommodation network for hikers and youth groups in the Association of German Tourist Associations . In this position, on October 20, 1935 - surrounded by the local NSDAP officials - he walled the foundation stone of the "House of Youth" - the youth hostel - a showpiece of the Tübingen NSDAP. Nägele was not happy that the National Socialists took possession of his work, but he could not escape their expectations.
Nägele was a member of the Württemberg state parliament of the People's Party from 1907 to 1912 and from 1914 to 1918.
Nägele was a supporter of the naturalist Robert Gradmann and was in contact with the writer Weinland , the creator of Rulaman , and other greats of his time. There he fell ill with severe bilateral pneumonia , from which he died on the evening of December 16, 1937. Eugen Nägele was buried in Tübingen.
