The Evangelical Church Krummenau is the Evangelical village church in Krummenau , a municipality in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

history

Krummenau belonged to the area of the Wild and Rhine County, which introduced the Reformation in their area by 1555. In the 16th century Krummenau was a branch of the upper parish of Hausen , was an independent parish from 1602 to 1617, and then a branch of the Protestant parish of Laufersweiler . In 1820 Krummenau came to the parish of Kleinich . From 1884, Hirschfeld-Horbruch and Krummenau formed their own parish with its own parish. This was based in Horbruch. In 1973 the pastor's office was abolished. In 2008 the parishes of Kleinich , Hirschfeld-Horbruch and Krummenau merged. Since then, the community has been known as the Christ Church Community of Kleinich. Regular services are currently taking place (as of spring 2015) in the four main churches of the parish (Hirschfeld, Hochscheid, Kleinich, Krummenau) around fortnightly.

Architecture and equipment

Today's church is a hall building with a three-sided choir and a roof turret that is covered with slate . The church is dated to 1747 by an inscription on the lintel. The church does not have a tower, instead it has a roof turret with a canopy and a lantern. The Idarbach , which is spanned by a mighty slate bridge, runs below the church .

The original furnishings of the church with a vaulted wooden ceiling have been completely preserved: the pulpit has a polygonal basket and a crown-like sound cover . The Prebytergstühl and the west gallery have also been preserved. On the parapet of the west gallery there are pictures of the Twelve Apostles , which are arranged either individually or in pairs on the pictures. The east gallery and the church stalls show a classical language of form. On the gallery balustrade and the presbyter stalls there are oil paintings depicting apostles and scenes from the Bible.

organ

Since 1824 the church has had an organ on the east gallery owned by the Weil / Neuwied brothers.
