At the beginning the Firnsbach, which runs mainly southwards, flows past the houses of the hamlet Am Ziegenkopf , which also includes the Herbsthäuschen (approx. 480 m ) near the brook . Below this forest restaurant, it winds through a remote valley of the Hohe Habichtswald. To the east of the Bachtal area there rises, still in the area of the independent Kassel, the Hirzstein ( 502 m ) with its steep rock wall of a former basalt quarry facing away from the Bachtal and the nearby Teufelsmauer , a basalt corridor exposed by mining .
Immediately after leaving the Habichtswald, the Firnsbach, now finally flowing in the district of Kassel, crosses the Bundesautobahn 44 and a little later the route of the Kassel – Naumburg railway line , shortly afterwards between the Schauenburg villages of Hoof and Elgershausen at around 299 m altitude in the western Fulda - inflow Bauna to open (when Bauna bach kilometer 13,35).
