The First Division 1986/87 was the 48th season of the top Cypriot division in men's football .

Master became Omonia Nicosia .

The league was increased by two places to 16 teams. They played against each other twice on a total of 30 match days, divided into a first half and a second half. The master qualified for the European Cup of national champions and the cup winners for the European Cup of Cup winners . For the UEFA Cup , the third placed was eligible to start, as the runner-up was suspended by UEFA for a year. The last two teams were relegated.
