Friedrich-Ebert-Platz (Remscheid)
The Friedrich-Ebert-Platz in Remscheid is a central place, the central on the bus station ( Busbf ) of Montreal. It is named after Friedrich Ebert , the first Reich President of the Weimar Republic .
General
From here buses run to all parts of the city and other cities such as Wuppertal , Cologne and Wermelskirchen . There is a Stadtwerke Remscheid building on the square and an underground car park under the square.
The SPZ Remscheid - center for psychosocial counseling, rehabilitation and integration - has been located west of the square since 2015 in the former building of the Remscheid General-Anzeiger .
history
In 1958 Friedrich-Ebert-Platz was opened as a traffic junction . Until 1969 there were also tram stops on the square ; operations ceased on April 10, 1969 after 76 years.
By 1985, the central bus station at Friedrich-Ebert-Platz was reorganized in order to meet the increased requirements.
In 2017 a competition was launched to upgrade the design of the square. The bus station is to be rebuilt with five million euros by 2019, and the redesigned town square will then offer more amenity.
Transportation
Public transport today is carried out with buses. There are connections to Wermelskirchen , Solingen-Burg , Wuppertal-Elberfeld , and Cologne . There are also other transfer options to Gummersbach and even Berlin in Lennep . The bus station is in the tariff area of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) , but is also in the tariff area of the extended Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Sieg (VRS) ( transitional tariff ). As a result, in addition to Düsseldorf and Cologne, destinations such as B. Essen or Bonn possible. The Remscheid Central Station , can be reached through the newly built pedestrian bridge, in just 10 to 15 minutes. There is a connection to the Müngstener (S7) to Wuppertal or Solingen , where other destinations can be reached.
