European Football Championship 2021 / Sweden
This article covers the Swedish national team at the Pan-European Football Championship 2021 . It is the seventh participation for the Swedish team.
qualification
For the qualification , Sweden was drawn into the group with Spain, Norway, Romania, the Faroe Islands and Malta.

In total, national coach Janne Andersson , who took over the team in 2016, used 29 players, of which only Alexander Isak and Kristoffer Olsson played all ten games. Isak had played in two games in January 2017, in which only players from the Swedish league were played and had not been considered for two years. Marcus Berg , Sebastian Larsson , goalkeeper Robin Olsen and Robin Quaison each made nine appearances, but after qualifying they were not used in the last game. Instead, Riccardo Gagliolo , Dejan Kulusevski and Mattias Svanberg made their first international match in this game . When qualifying was still at stake, Marcus Danielsson made his first appearance.
Robin Quaison was the top scorer with five goals. Their first international goal was scored in their first international match in qualifying by Marcus Danielsson (to lead 1-0 in a 4-0 win against Malta) and Mattias Svanberg (to mean 2-0 in a 3-0 win against the Faroe Islands). A total of eleven players contributed to the 21 qualifying goals. The Swedes also benefited from two own goals.

preparation
Preparations began in January with two games in Doha , with the team winning 1-0 against Moldova on the 9th and also 1-0 against Kosovo three days later . Only players from the domestic league and pausing leagues were used in both games, as these dates are not in the FIFA framework calendar and therefore legionaries do not have to be assigned to international matches. Alexander Kačaniklić , for whom it was the internationals number 20 and 21, was the only player who had previously played more than three games. In March there should be games against Russia and Cyprus and in June against EM newcomers Finland and Denmark . However, these were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
Finals
Sweden had applied to host games with the Friends Arena in Solna , but was not considered. At the draw on November 30, Sweden was in pot 3 and could have been drawn from Germany, but then Spain and Poland and a team that still has to qualify in March 2020 were drawn. If this is Ireland, they would have two away games. The Swedes played against the Spaniards in qualifying. Overall, the record is negative with three wins, five draws and seven defeats. The last victory came in qualifying for the European Championship in 2008, when the Spaniards then won the title. Against Poland, however, the overall balance is positive. In 26 games there were 14 wins, four draws and eight losses, with the last five games being won. The last defeat against the Poles was in August 1991.
If the Swedish team were group winners, they would play against the third in Group A, B, C or D in Glasgow - subject to the retention of the venues - and in second place a day earlier in Copenhagen against the second in Group D, e.g. B. England, Croatia or the Czech Republic. If they were one of the top four group thirds, either the group B winner with Belgium in Bilbao or the group C winner with the Netherlands in Budapest would be opponents in the round of 16.
