The Nürnberg Rams were athletically qualified for participation after finishing fourth in the preseason in the GFL 2 South, but they withdrew their participation and are now starting in the Regionalliga Süd. No other team wanted to take the vacant space, the reason given for this was that the financial burdens involved in participating in GFL 2 would be too high. Therefore, the GFL 2 Süd 2019 only consisted of seven teams.
