Groß-Felda is the largest district of Feldatal in the Vogelsberg district in central Hesse . The hamlet of Schellnhausen belongs to Groß-Felda .

geography

Groß-Felda is located on the Vogelsberg in the "Hoher Vogelsberg" nature reserve. State road 3071 runs through the village .

history

The oldest known written mention of Felda was in 1190 under the name Velle und Wellen . In 1635 the grist mill still working today was called the Wolf Mill .

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Groß-Felda in 1830:

"Felda (L. Bez. Alsfeld) evangel. Parish village; also Großfelda; is on the brook of the same name 3 St. von Alsfeld im Vogelsberg and 1121 Hess. (862 par.) Raised feet above the sea. The place has 167 houses and 880 inhabitants, all of whom are Protestant, 1 church and 3 grinding and 1 oil mill. This is where the Schellnhausen hammer mill belongs. The main branches of food, besides agriculture and animal husbandry, are the trades, among which the nail smiths, of which there are about 50, and which make about 25,000 nails a day, stand out; they are followed by the stocking weavers, who fabricate considerable quantities of woolen stockings, the linen weavers, the beer brewers, brandy makers, and farriers. 3 cattle and grocer's markets are held annually. - This village - Felle, Velle - always appears, together with the court of the same name, under the estates of the landgraves. In 1344 Felda was pledged to the Hereditary Marshal Heinrich von Eisenbach, and in a document from 1366 Heinrich and Röhrich von Eisenbach confess that Landgrave Heinrich II had re-released the Felda court because of a debt of 100 pounds Heller. The church is known through a dispute that arose at the end of the 12th century between a neighboring knight Eberhart von Merlau and the church of St. Johann zu Mainz because of mutual claims against the Kirchsatz zu Felda. "

and about Klein-Felda:

"Kleinfelda (L. Bez. Alsfeld) evangel. Branch village; is located in the Vogelsberg 3 1 / 2 St. of Alsfeld, and forms with Großfelda a municipality. There are 17 houses and 98 inhabitants who are Protestant, like a mill. "

On April 1, 1954, the Klein-Felda residential area with 108 residents was spun off and joined the community of Zeilbach .

On December 31, 1971, in the course of the regional reform in Hesse, the previously independent municipalities of Ermenrod, Groß-Felda, Kestrich, Köddingen, Stumpertenrod, Windhausen and Zeilbach were merged to form the new large municipality of Feldatal.

Territorial history and administration

The following list gives an overview of the territories in which Groß-Felda was located and the administrative units to which it was subordinate:

Courts since 1803

In the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt , the judicial system was reorganized in an executive order of December 9, 1803. For the province of Upper Hesse , the Giessen court was set up as a court of second instance. The jurisdiction of the first instance was carried out by the offices or landlords and thus the Ulrichstein office was responsible for Groß-Felda . The court court was the second instance court for normal civil disputes, and the first instance for civil family law cases and criminal cases. The second instance for the patrimonial courts were the civil law firms. The superior court of appeal in Darmstadt was superordinate .

With the founding of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1806, this function was retained, while the tasks of the first instance 1821–1822 were transferred to the newly created regional and city courts as part of the separation of jurisdiction and administration. Groß-Felda much in the judicial district of the Alsfeld regional court . By order of the Grand Ducal Hessian Ministry of the Interior and Justice, Groß-Felda was assigned to the district of the newly established Ulrichstein Regional Court on December 1, 1838 .

On the occasion of the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act with effect from October 1, 1879, as a result of which the previous grand-ducal Hessian regional courts were replaced by local courts at the same place, while the newly created regional courts now functioned as higher courts, the name was changed to "Ulrichstein Local Court" and allocation to the district of the regional court of Giessen .

In 1943 the Ulrichstein District Court lost its independence and became a branch of the Schotten District Court . With effect from July 1, 1968 the local court of Schotten was dissolved and Groß-Felda came to the judicial district of the local court of Alsfeld . The superordinate instances are now, the regional court Gießen , the higher regional court Frankfurt am Main and the federal court as last instance.
