Guadalupe County is a county in the state of New Mexico in the United States . 4,687 people live here. The county seat is Santa Rosa .

The county covers an area of 7,852 square kilometers; 3 square kilometers (0.04 percent) of this is water. In New Mexico, the county is bordered clockwise by the counties: San Miguel County , Quay County , De Baca County , Lincoln County, and Torrance County .

As of the 2000 census , the county had 4,680 people. There were 1,655 households and 1,145 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 54.06% White, 1.32% African American, 1.13% Native American, 0.53% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, and 39.06% other races Groups; 3.85% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 81.22% of the population.
Of the 1,655 households, 33.80% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 49.50% were married couples living together, 14.30% were single mothers. 30.80% were not families. 27.90% were single households and 11.50% had someone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 3.05.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 24.40% of residents under the age of 18, 9.20% between 18 and 24 years of age, 30.70% between 25 and 44 years of age, and 21.90% between 45 and 64 years of age 13.80% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 121.50 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 126.30 males.
The median income for a household in the 24,783 USD , and the median income for a family was 28,279 USD. Males had a median income of $ 22,463 versus $ 18,500 for females.
