Valencia County is a county in the state of New Mexico in the United States . The county has 76,569 residents. The county seat is in Los Lunas .

The county is located slightly northwest of the geographic center of New Mexico and has a total area of ​​2,765 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers (0.05 percent) are water. The county in New Mexico is bordered clockwise by the counties: Bernalillo County , Torrance County , Socorro County, and Cibola County .

According to the 2000 census , the county had 66,152 people. There were 22,681 households and 17,350 families. The population density was 24 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 66.51% White, 1.27% African American, 3.30% Native American, 0.36% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, and 23.93% other races Groups; 4.55% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 54.98% of the population.
