Mora County is a county in the northwest of the state of New Mexico in the United States . The county has 4,881 people. The county seat is Mora .

The county covers an area of ​​5008 square kilometers; 6 square kilometers of it are water surfaces. At 3993 m, Truchas Peak is the county's highest mountain. The county borders the counties in New Mexico in a clockwise direction: Colfax County , Harding County , San Miguel County , Santa Fe County , Rio Arriba County, and Taos County .

According to the 2000 census , the county had 5,180 people. There were 2,017 households and 1,397 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 58.88% White, 0.10% African American, 1.14% Native American, 0.12% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, and 36.97% other races Groups; 2.80% were from two or more races.
