January 1978 in Saransk , Mordovian ASSR , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Kazakh wrestler Tatar origin, which started for Russia until 2010 . She won a silver medal in the weight class up to 72 kg for Russia at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , she won a bronze medal in the weight class up to 72 kg for Kazakhstan.

Career

Güsel Manjurowa was born in Mordovia to a Tatar family and moved with his parents to Moscow as a child. Before 2002 she practiced Aikido , where she has the 3rd Dan and was temporarily vice-president of Akikai Russia. Since she wanted to play a competitive sport, she started wrestling when she was over 20 years old. The 1.74 meter tall athlete, who always competed or wrestled in the highest women's weight category, was initially a member of the SKA Novosibirsk Army Sports Club and then the CSKA Moscow Central Army Sports Club . She was and is trained by Alexander Koliwanow and Igor Fitkulin. She is a graduate of the Veterinary Faculty of Moscow University.

No results are known from the early years of her career. Her first known result comes from February 2003, where she took part in an international tournament in Kiev and took 7th place in the weight class up to 72 kg, which was won by Anita Schätzle from Germany ahead of Kateryna Burmistrowa from Ukraine . In the course of 2003 Güsel Manjurowa must have struggled in Russia, because she was used by the Russian Wrestling Federation at the World Cup in New York . There she was defeated in her first fight against Edyta Witkowska from Poland and was only able to occupy 9th place due to the peculiar rules of the International Wrestling Federation, despite two subsequent victories over Phillipa Katoniudaulifu from Australia and Kan Ming-jeong from South Korea .

Also in 2004 Güsel Manjurowa prevailed against her strong competitors in the nomination of the Russian women's team for the Olympic Games in Athens and with a 3rd place at the qualifying tournament in Tunis also achieved the criteria of the International Wrestling Federation (Fila) for a start at these games. Before Athens, the European Championships took place in Haparanda , Sweden . There she won over Stanka Slatewa from Bulgaria , Jenny Fransson from Sweden , Katarzyna Juszczak from Italy , Anna Wawrzycka from Poland and Swetlana Sajenko from Ukraine and thus became European champion . At the Olympic wrestling tournament that took place in August 2004, she then won over Marina Gastl , Austria , Anita Schätzle and Swetlana Sajenko and was thus in the final battle against the Chinese Wang Xu , to whom she however lost. But winning the Olympic silver medal was an outstanding achievement for her.

In 2005 Güsel Manjurowa was only at the World Cup in Budapest . She met there in the 1st round on the Mongolin Ochirbatyn Nasanburmaa , against whom she lost on points. Since the Mongolians did not reach the final battle, they did not get into the consolation round, they were eliminated and ended up in 14th place. The next starts at international championships she completed again in 2007. She came in third place at both the European championships in Sofia and the world championships in Baku . At both championships she lost in the semifinals to her competitors, at the European championship Stanka Slatewa and at the world championship Kristie Marano from the United States. She won the bronze medals by winning over Anita Schätzle and Maider Unda Gonzales de Audicana from Spain .

In the Olympic year 2008 Güsel Manjurowa won at the European Championships in Tampere after victories over Swetlana Sajenko, Irina Zyrkewitsch from Kazakhstan and Anita Schätzle and a defeat in the final fight against Stanka Slatewa an EM bronze medal . But then she missed qualifying for the Olympic Games in Beijing at the Russian elimination competitions and was therefore not at the start there. Also in 2009 she did not take part in any international championships.

At the beginning of 2010, Güsel Manjurowa changed the association and has since started for Kazakhstan . For this country she was Asian champion in 2010 and 2011. At the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, however, she came in third behind Gelegdschamtsyn Narantschimeg from Mongolia and Li Dan from China, together with Kyoko Hamaguchi from Japan . She was not at the start at the 2010 World Championships. She won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics.
