Karl Gustav von der Mülbe (born December 11, 1831 in Braunschweig , † February 12, 1917 in Erfurt ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

He was the son of Friedrich Karl von der Mülbe (1806–1859) and his first wife Agnes, born von Bothmer (1804–1841). His father was master of Boddin and Raguth as well as a Brunswick chamberlain and lieutenant a. D.

Military career

Mülbe attended schools in Schwerin and Braunschweig. On December 3, 1848, he joined the Brunswick Hussar Regiment , where he was appointed portepeef ensign on August 1, 1850 . He said goodbye there on October 15, and on December 31, 1850, he joined the 7th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army . Here he was promoted to second lieutenant on March 6, 1852 . From March 1, 1856 to September 30, 1860 he was an adjutant of the 2nd Battalion and in the meantime became Prime Lieutenant on August 13, 1859 . When he was promoted to captain , he was appointed company commander . As such, Mülbe took part in the battles at Nachod , Skalitz , Schweinschädel and Gradlitz as well as the Battle of Königgrätz in 1866 during the war against Austria . For this he was awarded the Red Eagle Order IV class with swords.

At the beginning of the war against France , Mülbe took part as a company commander in the battle of Weissenburg on August 4, 1870 and then took over the leadership of the fusilier battalion. In the further course of the war he was promoted to major on September 12, 1870 and fought with the association in the battles at Wörth and Sedan , took part in the siege of Paris and was able to distinguish himself particularly at Mont Valérien . His achievements were recognized by the award of both classes of the Iron Cross . He also received the Commander's Cross of the Bavarian Order of Military Merit with Swords.

After the peace treaty , Mülbe rose to the status of a regular staff officer on June 8, 1871 and was appointed commander of the Hessian Jäger Battalion No. 11 in Marburg on June 11, 1872 . He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 22, 1876, and then on March 21, 1880, Mülbe became commander of the Duke of Braunschweig Infantry Regiment No. 92 . Here he was promoted to colonel on September 18, 1880 . On December 12, 1885, as major general, he took command of the 14th Infantry Brigade in Magdeburg . With the award of the Red Eagle Order II. Class with Oak Leaves and Swords, Mülbe was put up for disposal on August 16, 1887 with the statutory pension .

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Battle of Mont Valérien , Wilhelm II gave him the character of Lieutenant General.

family

Mülbe married Eleonore von Tschirschky (1843–1915) in Liegnitz on June 27, 1869 . The three daughters Agnes (* 1870), Eleonore (* 1872) and Gertrud (* 1873) emerged from this marriage.
