The Höwenegg area is a nature reserve (NSG number 3.128) in the municipality of Immendingen in the Baden-Württemberg district of Tuttlingen in Germany, which was designated by the Freiburg Regional Council by ordinance of June 24, 1983 .
location
The approximately 21 hectare “Höwenegg” nature reserve is part of the “ Hegaualb ” natural area . It is located about 2.7 kilometers south of the center of Immendingen at an altitude of about 774 to 798 m above sea level. NHN and extends around the eponymous Höwenegg , the northernmost of the Hegau volcanoes, with the striking crater lake and the ruins of Immendingen Castle .
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is "the preservation of the Höwenegg volcanic complex as a geological document with unique insights into volcanic genesis and as a habitat for rare animals and plants".

With the nature reserve "Höwenegg" that's bird sanctuary " Höwenegg " (SG no. DE-8018-401) presented as a coherent reserve.
Flora and fauna
The protected area, including the former quarry and the adjacent forests, is a richly structured biotope , habitat for some rare plant and animal species .

In terms of vegetation, the locations on the walls and floors of the quarry and on the basalt block rubble are particularly interesting on Höwenegg.
The following plant species (selection) are occupied in the protected area:
- Field toadflax ( Linaria arvensis )
- Field light carnation ( Silene noctiflora ), also known as "night-blooming cucumber" or "night carnation"
- German fringed gentian ( Gentianella germanica )
- Grass pea ( Lathyrus nissolia )
- Mosquito Haendelwurz ( Gymnadenia conopsea )
- Oriental serrated pods ( Bunias orientalis )
- Purple orchid ( Orchis purpurea )
- Turk's Union ( Lilium martagon )
- White forest bird ( Cephalanthera damasonium )
- Two-leaved forest hyacinth ( Platanthera bifolia )

Insects prefer the quarry walls, block rubble heaps and ruderal areas, which heat up quickly
