The Hakendorfer Wälder nature reserve is located in the communities of Hollenbek and Klein Zecher in the Duchy of Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein . It serves to secure, protect and develop a typical natural area section of the rich, partially waterlogged ground moraine landscape in the south-eastern part of the country. The small-area changing, closely interlinked occurrences of rich deciduous forests, swamp and swamp forests, reed beds, swamps, wet meadows, still and flowing waters form habitats of characteristic, partly endangered species and communities, partly also of European importance.

The nature reserve is part of the Green Belt on the former inner-German border . To a large extent it is also a fauna and flora habitat (FFH) and a European bird sanctuary (SPA area).

Particularly worthy of protection

Woodruff beech forest (Asperulo-Fagetum) and sub-Atlantic or Central European pedunculate oak forest or oak-hornbeam forest ( Carpinion betuli ). Great crested newt ( Triturus cristatus ) and fire-bellied toad ( Bombina bombina ). Common crane ( Grus grus ), middle woodpecker ( Dendrocopos medius ), red- backed shrimp ( Lanius collurio ), golden oriole ( Oriolus oriolus ), marsh harrier ( Circus aeruginosus ), black woodpecker ( Dendrocopos martius ), honey buzzard ( Pernis apivorus ) and lapwing ( Vanellus vanellus ).

In 2017, the warmth-loving bleach- spot sack spider ( Porrhoclubiona leucaspis ) was identified for the first time , thus documenting a climate-related expansion of the area ( climate change ).
