The Büchener Sander is a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein communities of Büchen and Fitzen in the Duchy of Lauenburg .

The approximately 100  hectare nature reserve is registered under number 150 in the directory of nature reserves of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Areas. The area has been under protection since the beginning of 1991 (date of regulation: December 12, 1990). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Duchy of Lauenburg district .

The nature reserve is located northeast of Büchen between Fitzen and Bröthen within the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park . It provides protection for a lawn and grass heather corridor on a sander . The area was previously used for arable farming, but was able to develop into a valuable biotope after it was no longer used . It provides a habitat for characteristic communities that depend on poor and warm locations, including numerous endangered plant and animal species, some of which are also threatened with extinction. So come here u. a. Silver grass , bent grass , Hasenklee , Field Wormwood , sand straw flower , thrift , harebell , Mountain sand bells , farm horned violets, spring and ragwort and hungry flower before. Some specimens of the wild pear that grow on the sander are considered to be a botanical specialty . Furthermore, wild bees , wasps , beetles , bed bugs , grasshoppers such as the Roesels bite and the red-bodied grasshopper , spiders , ants and butterflies are indigenous, furthermore and the like. a. Sand lizard as well as representatives of the avifauna typical of open landscapes such as heather and skylark and partridge .

In order to preserve the habitat, the areas have to be mowed or grazed occasionally so that taller shrubs and trees do not displace the grass and herb flora . Since grazing with a flock of sheep is not enough for this, decussing measures are always necessary to B. pines , birches and sometimes poplars as well as the late blooming bird cherry .

The nature reserve is surrounded by agricultural land . In the southeast it borders on Landesstraße 205. The area that belongs to the Schleswig-Holstein Nature Conservation Foundation is looked after by the Büchen group of the German Nature Conservation Union . A narrow hiking path runs along the edge of the nature reserve to the west.
