The Lauenburger Elbe foreland is a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein city ​​of Lauenburg / Elbe and the municipality of Lanze in the Duchy of Lauenburg .

The 57  hectare nature reserve is registered under number 168 in the directory of nature reserves of the Ministry for Energy Transition, Agriculture, Environment, Nature and Digitization . It was expelled in 1995 (date of regulation: April 19, 1995). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Duchy of Lauenburg district.

The nature reserve is located southeast of Lauenburg and extends to the dike foreland of the Elbe between the Elbe-Lübeck Canal and the state border with Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The groynes reaching into the Elbe and the shallow water areas between them are also part of the nature reserve . In the east, the nature reserve borders on the nature reserves " Elbhang Vierwald " and " Stecknitz-Delvenau-Niederung ". It is completely part of the FFH area "Elbe with high banks of the Elbe from Tesperhude to Lauenburg with adjacent areas" and largely part of the " Elbe River Landscape " biosphere reserve .

The protected area is characterized by grassland with dry grass and tall herbaceous vegetation . Flood turfs and flood troughs occur on the banks of the Elbe . Here you will find areas with reeds and willow bushes . Between the groynes there are sand areas, which are partially populated by pioneer vegetation .

The often dry sand and mud banks are u. a. populated by deer leaps , small fleas , mud flats and brown sedge .
