The Hevenbruch is a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein communities of Koberg , Ritzerau and Poggensee in the Duchy of Lauenburg .

The 173  hectare nature reserve is registered under number 188 in the directory of nature reserves of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Areas. It was declared as of April 25, 2003 (date of regulation: April 1, 2003). The nature reserve is largely part of the FFH area "Forests of the Hevenbruch and the Koberger Forest" and the EU bird sanctuary "Forest areas in Lauenburg". The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Duchy of Lauenburg district.

The nature reserve is located in a moraine landscape north-west of Mölln between the towns Ritzerau, nuts and Koberg. It puts an old beech forest under protection, which belongs to the Hanseatic City of Lübeck , which has not used it for forestry since 1994 . By giving up its use, old and dead wood can develop, which form an important basis of life for numerous animals, plants and fungi . In the forest area there are swamps , breaks, rivers, ponds and ponds . Partial areas were previously used as grassland . They dusty up and are slowly being taken back by the forest . The dominant tree species is the common beech with its forest communities. In addition, are also common English oak , ash , maple and hornbeam and in the Bruchwald areas the alder to find.

The nature reserve is u. a. Habitat for stock pigeon , black , middle , great spotted and small woodpecker , miniature flycatcher , nuthatch , sparrowhawk , red kite , honey buzzard , tawny owl , long-eared owl , woodcock , crane and common raven , which also breed here. The moor frog is also native here. Growing in the forest a. Forest violet , musk herb , greenish forest hyacinth , broad-leaved starwort, arum , oneberry, opposed and alternate leafy splenic herb and false cypergrass .

The nature reserve is almost completely surrounded by agricultural land . Another forest area of ​​the Lauenburg district forest connects to the south. A hiking trail runs through the nature reserve . There are information boards in several places.
