St. Anne's Chapel

Epfendorf - St. Anna Chapel - baroque representation of Anna Selbdritt

The St. Anna Chapel is located on the Römersteige in the main town of Epfendorf. The chapel and its altar dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary were consecrated in 1657. During the renovation in 1962, glass windows were designed by the Graz professor Johannes Wohlfahrt. The baroque miniature works of mother Anna Selbdritt and Saint Wendel as well as the austere Pieta from the 15th century are precious . The chapel is a listed building.

Archaeological finds

Silver ring from Trichtingen (State Museum Württemberg)

Trichtingen became known in archeology far beyond the national borders in 1928 through the discovery of the Trichtingen silver ring . It was stuck in the wall of a drainage ditch about two feet below the surface and weighed 6.7 kg. Its dating is controversial, it was classified in the late La Tène period (1st century BC). It is believed that it was deposited as part of a sacrificial cult. While the design of the ring point to influences from the Danube region, to Thrace or even Persia, comparative finds point to a production in Gaul. The ring is exhibited today in the Württemberg State Museum.

In 1976 the Deutsche Bundespost issued a 50-pfennig token with the motif of the ring. It was labeled: silver ring. Neck ring from Trichtingen. Badge of a Celtic prince .

In 2020 it will become the symbol of an advertising campaign for the "Keltenland Baden-Württemberg". The Ministry of Science wants to present and network the sites and museums for the historical legacy of the Celts more strongly with an investment worth millions.

In addition to the Epfendorf train station, there is also a non-passenger train station in the incorporated Talhausen. Trichtingen owns - initiated by the Verein Landleben e. V. - since September 2017 a ride-on bench , which provides a sign with a green thumb, ridesharing opportunities in the direction of Oberndorf and Bochingen.
