Heinrich Gustav Adolf von Rosenzweig (born July 22, 1821 in Danzig , † March 4, 1893 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian infantry general .

Life

Heinrich was a son of the Prussian major of the artillery Ludwig von Rosenzweig (1782-1860) and his wife Henriette, née von Goldbeck (1778-1822).

Military career

After visiting the cadet houses in Kulm and Berlin , Rosenzweig was transferred to the 13th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army on August 15, 1838 as portepeef ensign and was promoted to second lieutenant until mid-June 1840 . For further training he completed the General War School for three years from October 1844 . From October 1848 he was adjutant of the 2nd battalion. During the mobilization on the occasion of the campaign against Denmark , Rosenzweig was commanded as adjutant of the 2nd mobile brigade to Schleswig and Holstein . There he took part in the battles at Alminde , Viuf and Vejle . Subsequently, on August 18, 1849, he was appointed deputy adjutant to the general command of the VII Army Corps . This was followed by commandments as adjutant of the 13th Landwehr Brigade and as a teacher at the United Division School of the 13th and 14th Divisions from mid-February 1850 . After another brief assignment as adjutant of the 25th Infantry Brigade , Rosenzweig was released from this command on May 11, 1852 and assigned to the topographical department of the General Staff from the end of the month to the beginning of March 1853 . As a prime lieutenant , Rosenzweig was company commander in the 1st Battalion in the 13th Landwehr Regiment for one month from October 1855 and then in the same capacity in the 7th Combined Reserve Battalion. He was promoted to captain in mid-September 1856 and was appointed company commander in his main regiment on July 12, 1858 .

On May 8, 1860, he was commanded as a company commander for the 13th Combined Infantry Regiment, from which the 5th Westphalian Infantry Regiment No. 53 was formed on July 1, 1860 . Rosenzweig was given command of the 9th Company, which he led in the war against Denmark in 1864 until he was seriously wounded during the siege and storming of the Düppeler Schanzen . He was awarded the Crown Order III. Class with swords and rose to major in early June 1864. After the peace treaty he became commander of the 2nd Battalion on August 18, 1865 and on April 4, 1866, commander of the Fusilier Battalion. During the German War , he led this battalion in 1866 in the Main Army in the battles near Dermbach, Neidhardshausen and Zella , Kissingen , Waldaschaff , Aschaffenburg , Tauberbischofsheim and Gerchsheim and the bombardment of Würzburg . Awarded the Red Eagle Order IV. Class with Swords for his work , Rosenzweig was promoted to lieutenant colonel at the end of March 1868 .

For the duration of the mobilization on the occasion of the war against France , Rosenzweig was given command of the 2nd Rhenish Infantry Regiment No. 28 . As a colonel , he led this association at Gravelotte , Amiens , at the Hallue , at Berteaucourt, Arras , Saint-Quentin, and in front of Metz and Péronne . Awarded both classes of the Iron Cross , he was appointed regimental commander on March 29, 1871 for peace relations. In position à la suite of his regiment, he was commissioned to lead the 36th Infantry Brigade in Rendsburg on September 15, 1875 , appointed commander of this brigade on October 15, 1874 and promoted to major general at the end of the month. On the occasion of the order festival in January 1883 he received the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves and swords on the ring, and was transferred to Cologne as governor on October 17, 1883 . There he received on September 23, 1884 the Order of the Crown, First Class with Swords on the Ring. Under awarding of the character as General of Infantry Rosenzweig was on 18 January 1887 Pension for disposition made. He died on March 4, 1893 in Potsdam.

family

Rosenzweig married on January 10, 1863 in Münster Elisabeth von Natzmer (1842–1863), daughter of the Prussian Lieutenant General Adolf von Natzmer . After her untimely death, he married her older sister Anna (1839-1893) on March 18, 1868 in Potsdam. The daughter Elisabeth (* 1869) emerged from this marriage.
