history
Herrenhof in 1385 as a farm first mentioned in documents. Before 1798, Herrenhof formed an abbot-Saint-Gallic maleficent court , which was administered from the Romanshorneramt . Some houses belonged to the so-called high courts , which were directly subordinate to the federal governor in Thurgau. The predominantly Protestant manor house was always part of the church after Altnau.
In the 19th century, livestock and dairy farming replaced the previously predominant agriculture, and in 1882 a cheese dairy was built. In the 19th century, cotton weaving and blue dyeing and around 1900 embroidery also offered additional earnings. Herrenhof has remained a farming village to this day.
