Kurzrickenbach used to be an independent local parish in the municipality of Kreuzlingen and a parish in the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland . The local communities of Kurzrickenbach and Kreuzlingen merged in 1927 to form the unified community of Kreuzlingen, which Emmishofen joined in 1928.
After the incorporation, Kurzrickenbach has developed into a district of Kreuzlingen.
history
Kurzrickenbach was first mentioned as Rihinbah in 830, then as Rickenbach minor or brevis and brevior. The name means "Tobelbach" from Middle High German Ric , d. H. Bottleneck , ravine .
The region was already settled in the Stone Age, which is proven by archaeological finds from pile dwellings.
In the Middle Ages Rickenbach belonged first to the Bischofshöri and later to the Reichs Vogtei Eggen , one half of which was transferred to Constance in 1471 , the other half in 1542. From the late Middle Ages to 1798 Constance had lower court rights.
Ecclesiastically Rickenbach was assigned to the Church of St. Paul in Constance since 914. Later, the monks of Kreuzlingen organized the service in the St. Peters chapel in Rickenbach, mentioned as early as 1157. The Reformation was introduced in 1528. After Constance came to Front Austria in 1548 and was re-Catholicized, many Reformed Constance residents moved to Kurzrickenbach. In 1603 and 1695 the Kurzrickenbach church was expanded. From 1709 there was a Reformed pastor in Kurzrickenbach, the collation was with the cities of St. Gallen and Zurich .

Kurzrickenbach was originally operated by the city of Konstanz for bleaching for canvas production . Since the High Middle Ages, canvas has been one of the most important trade and export items in the Lake Constance cities ( Konstanz canvas or tela di Costanza ). The canvas weaving existed until the 19th century. Arable, flax, fruit and vine growing dominated until the 20th century. As a district of Kreuzlingen, Kurzrickenbach has experienced strong economic development since 1950.
Kurzrickenbach was Konstanz's most important water supplier for centuries until the middle of the 19th century. The water was led into the nearby town in so-called Teuchel or Teichel , wooden pipes sunk into the earth.
