Oberhofen bei Kreuzlingen is a former municipality and a town in the municipality of Lengwil in the Kreuzlingen district of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland .
Oberhofen, located on the Seerücken , formed from 1803 to 1997 with Dettighofen and Lengwil a local community of the Illighausen municipal community . On January 1, 1998 , the local community Oberhofen bei Kreuzlingen merged with the local and municipal community Illighausen to form the community Lengwil.
history
The settlement was first mentioned in a document in 1160 Obirhovin . Early medieval graves were found near Oberhofen . Dettighofen, Lengwil and Oberhofen formed a lower court of the Liebburg lordship , which belonged to Ulrich von Königsegg in 1376 , Ulrich Blarer in 1452, from 1526 to Reichlin von Meldegg and from 1628 to von Ulm . From 1685 to 1745 episcopal-Constance enfeoffments a. a. to the von Altensummerau and in 1745 to the von Ratzenried .
The chapel, mentioned in 1477, was a curate of the Konstanzer Stift St. Stephan . Oberhofen carried out the Reformation in 1528 and was looked after by Altnau at the end of the 16th century , from Güttingen from 1620 to 1712 and from Scherzingen from 1712 . In 1638 Catholic worship was reintroduced; the Catholics belong to the parish of St. Ulrich-Kreuzlingen .
The inhabitants were engaged in fruit and arable farming, cattle and dairy farming and cheese trading. From 1900 companies in the wood, metal and stone industries were established, and in 1974 the Ekkharthof dormitory.

Of the total of 561 inhabitants in Oberhofen in 2018, 109 or 19.4% were foreign nationals. 243 (43.3%) were Protestant Reformed and 137 (24.4%) were Roman Catholic.
