history

Holzheim was first mentioned in a document in 1290, when the brothers Cunrad and Heinrich von Hohenfels left their mother's two farms in Holzheim for usufruct for their lifespan. In 1314 Holzheim appears as the property of the Pielenhofen Monastery in the Hohenfels dominion. In 1400/10 Holzheim is recorded in the Salbuch of the Hohenfels rulership with two farms, and in the Salbuch from around 1494/1500 with three properties. The hamlet is listed as "Holtzhaim" in Christoph Vogel's map series from 1600. Towards the end of the Old Kingdom , around 1800, Holzheim consisted of four properties and a community shepherd's house.

In the Kingdom of Bavaria (around 1810) tax districts were initially formed; the hamlet of Holzheim belonged to the Hohenfels tax district. With the formation of the community in 1818 Holzheim came to the rural community of Markstetten in the Parsberg district court (later Parsberg district ). The hamlet remained with this municipality until the regional reform in Bavaria , when Markstetten was incorporated into the Hohenfels market on May 1, 1978. Since then, Holzheim has been an officially named district of Hohenfels.
