Jóannes Jakobsen (born August 25, 1961 in Tórshavn ) is a former Faroese football player, musician and composer who has released three albums in the Faroe Islands and has produced a number of albums for other artists. He is assistant coach of the national football team of the Faroe Islands .

Jakobsen made his debut with the Faroese top team HB Tórshavn on matchday 13 of the 1979 season in the home game against Kí Klaksvík , which was won 3-1. The following year he won the cup final against NSÍ Runavík 2-0. This title could be defended a year later by a 5: 1 against TB Tvøroyri , also succeeded by winning the first championship the double . Jakobsen scored his first goal on the second match day of the 1982 season in the away game against B36 Tórshavn with a penalty to make it 1-1. Also this year the cup was won by a 2-1 against ÍF Fuglafjørður , in the championship the title was also defended. 1984 succeeded the next cup victory with a 2-0 against GÍ Gøta . From 1991 Jakobsen acted as a player-coach at VB Vágur . He was also a player and manager of several other Faroese clubs. After two years he returned to HB. In 1995 they won the cup again with a 3-1 win against B68 Toftir . Then he moved to KÍ Klaksvík and played until 1998 for the second and third team. In 1999 Jakobsen took fourth place in the 1st Deild with HB Tórshavn II . In 2000 he switched to B68 Toftir, for which he only played a few games, mainly for the second team. Jakobsen was employed as a coach for the first team until 2001. After two games for HB Tórshavn II in 2002, Jakobsen did not play any more games.

European Cup

Jakobsen played a total of eleven games in the European Cup, but failed to score a goal. He made his debut in the qualifying round for the European Cup Winners' Cup 1993/94 in the first leg against RAF Jelgava , which was lost 0-1. Since the opponent did not play for the second leg, the second round was reached, in which both games were lost against FC Universitatea Craiova . His last game was the second leg against Újpest FC in the qualifying round for the 1997/98 UEFA Cup , which was lost 3-2 after the first-leg result was 6-0 and thus meant elimination from the competition.

National team

Jakobsen made his debut for the Faroe Islands on April 14, 1989 together with Tummas Eli Hansen and Gunnar Mohr in a friendly against Canada in Tórshavn . The 1-0 win was the Faroe Islands' first victory since joining FIFA. Jakobsen was the team's captain for the first few years, especially during his historic victory over Austria in 1990 . His last international game was a World Cup qualifier on September 8, 1993 against Romania , which was lost 4-0 in Toftir . He completed a total of 25 international matches for his home country.

Coaching career

From 1987 to 1990 Jakobsen coached the HB Tórshavn women's team . 1988 and 1989 succeeded in winning the championship, in 1990 with a 3-1 win after extension of winning the cup . In 1991 and 1992 he acted as a player-coach at VB Vágur , in 1994 and 1995 he took this position at HB Tórshavn. From 1996 to 1998 Jakobsen coached KÍ Klaksvík and was, as before, twice runner-up at HB, but only ran sporadically for the first team. After an engagement at B68 Toftir and two third places in 2000 and 2001, he returned to HB Tórshavn in 2002. Jakobsen took over the coaching position after the twelfth matchday, lying in second place together with Kári Nielsen, and led the team to the championship after six wins from six games. In 2004 he took second place in the top division with B36 Tórshavn .

In 2005 Jakobsen reached fourth place in the 1st Deild with AB Argir . Then he switched to B68 Toftir , who achieved promotion by taking first place in the 1st Deild. After the 15th matchday Jakobsen was dismissed lying on the penultimate place. In 2011, he coached the U-17 junior national team for three games in qualifying for the 2012 European Championship .
