Lots of Life is a soap opera that was broadcast on ZDF from March 7, 1995 to September 30, 1996 . The series includes 376 episodes and a 57-minute pilot film . It was the first daily series produced by ZDF.

background

The executive production company was Colonia Media Filmproduktions GmbH . The film was shot in a television studio in the industrial area of Cologne-Ossendorf . The hall, which was specially built for the series, comprised around 1000 m² with the shooting motifs of the main locations.

action

The plot of the series took place in Cologne. Various everyday social problems were taken up. Several well-known authors and directors were involved in the series in order to develop characters that were as realistic as possible.

The focus of the events is the doctor Dorothee Berger and her family. Many of the other characters and families that appear have some connection to the Berger family.

Charisma

On ZDF, the series first ran on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m., and later Mondays to Fridays at 4:35 p.m. Due to poor audience ratings, the broadcast ended on September 30, 1996 with episode 313. In order to present a meaningful ending, this episode - mostly with excerpts from later episodes - was extended by about ten minutes. 98 episodes of the series were repeated on tm3 in 1999 . Outside of Germany, the series has so far been broadcast in Switzerland and Austria . Not all episodes were shown on SRF 1 . It was broadcast from November 15, 1999 to November 30, 2000, Monday to Friday at 3:15 p.m., with double episodes being broadcast from October 23, 2000. From January 7, 2004 to July 25, 2005, ORF 2 showed all episodes including the pilot film, which was divided into three episodes, Monday to Friday at 1:40 pm (repetition at 9:50 am).

Shortly after the first episodes were broadcast, a 20-minute making-of was shown on ZDF. In addition, there were 17 compilations that ran from June to September 1995 in the night from Saturday to Sunday as a weekly summary.

There was a series special within the ZDF film "The biggest festival of the year - Christmas with our television families", which was broadcast on December 23, 1995.

From January 1, 2016 to July 8, 2016, the entire series was broadcast on ZDFkultur daily in double episodes at 5:15 p.m. (usually at 5:05 p.m. from June). From 11:15 a.m. (from June usually at 11:05 a.m.) the repeats of the last two days were broadcast. On June 6, 2016, both versions of episode 313 were broadcast.
