Jeleń [ ˈjɛlɛɲ ] is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , which belongs to the Gmina Ruciane-Nida ( urban and rural community Rudczanny / Niedersee - Nieden ) in the Piski powiat .
The forest settlement ( Polish Osada leśna ) Jeleń is located in the south-east of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, 24 kilometers west of the district town of Pisz ( German Johannisburg ). There is no evidence of the establishment and history of the small town, not even about a possible German place name from before 1945. The settlement is part of the urban and rural community Ruciane-Nida in the Powiat Piski , until 1998 of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.
On the Catholic side, Jeleń is parish off to Ruciane-Nida , whose parish Trójcy Świętej maintains a branch church in Krzyże (Kreuzofen) and belongs to the diocese of Ełk of the Polish Catholic Church . The Protestant residents stick to the parish in Pisz within the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .
Jeleń is west of a side road that leads from the national road 58 near Rosocha (Jägerswalde) via Karwica Mazurska to Ciesina (Erdmannen) . The settlement can be reached via a cul-de-sac. Karwica Mazurska is the nearest train station and is located on the Olsztyn – Ełk ( German Allenstein – Lyck ) railway line .
