Pieczysko ( German  Pieczisko , 1935 to 1945 Waldofen ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Ruciane-Nida ( urban and rural community Rudczanny- , 1938 to 1945 Niedersee-Nieden ) in the powiat Piski ( Johannisburg district ) .

Geographical location

The hamlet ( Polish Osada ) Pieczysko is located in the east of the Johannisburger Heide (Polish Puszcza Piska ) in the southeastern Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, ten kilometers southwest of the district town of Pisz ( German  Johannisburg ).

history

The small place called Pietzisko after 1785, Pietziskow before 1818 and Pieczisko after 1898 consisted of a forestry and associated small farms and until 1945 was a residential area within the rural community Wiartel ( (Groß) Wiartel ) in the Johannisburg district in the province of East Prussia . In 1905 it had 42 inhabitants in six houses. On June 9, 1935, the place name changed to "Waldofen" or Forst Waldofen .

With all of southern East Prussia , the place came to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war and received the Polish form of the name "Pieczysko". Today it is part of the urban and rural community Ruciane-Nida in the Powiat Piski , until 1998 of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then it belongs to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Until 1945 Pieczisko was parish in the Evangelical Church of Johannisburg in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Roman Catholic Church of Johannisburg in the Diocese of Warmia .

Today Pieczysko belongs to the parish church Wiartel ( (Groß) Wiartel ) in the diocese of Ełk of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland . The Protestant residents stick to the parish in Pisz in the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Pieczysko is located on a side road that runs from Ruciane-Nida via Szeroki Bór (Breitenheide) and Wiartel to Łacha in the Masovian Voivodeship .
