Głodowo [ ɡwɔˈdɔvɔ ] ( German  Glodowen , 1935–1945 Spirdingshöhe ) is a place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . He belongs to Gmina Ruciane-Nida ( urban and rural community Rudczanny / Niedersee-Nieden ) in Powiat Piski ( Johannisburg district ).

Geographical location

Głodowo on the south bank of the Spirdingsee ( Jezioro Śniardwy in Polish ) is located in the southeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, 15 kilometers northwest of the district town of Pisz ( German Johannisburg ).  

history

The former Gutsdorf Glodowen consisted of several large and small farms. 1874 was in the newly built office district Weissuhnen ( Polish Wejsuny ) incorporated, which existed until 1945 and the county Johannesburg in Administrative district Gumbinnen (1905 Government district Allenstein ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged. In 1910 the Glodowen Manor had 57 inhabitants. On September 30, 1928 Glodowen was incorporated into the neighboring rural community of Konzewen (1938–1945 Warnold , Polish Końcewo ) and renamed Spirdingshöhe on August 19, 1935 for political and ideological reasons to defend against foreign-sounding place names .

In 1945 the village came to Poland as a result of the war with all of southern East Prussia and received the Polish form of the name Głodowo . Today it is part of the urban and rural community Ruciane-Nida (Rudczanny / Niedersee-Nieden) in the powiat Piski , until 1998 of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship.

Religions

As before 1945, Głodowo is ecclesiastically aligned with the Protestant village church Wejsuny in the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland - until 1945 the Weissuhnen village church in the church province of East Prussia of the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union .

On the Catholic side, Głodowo belongs to the parish in Pisz (Johannisburg) today as it did before 1945 , at that time in the Diocese of Warmia , now in the Diocese of Ełk of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland .

traffic

In terms of traffic, Głodowo is a little out of the way. There is no train connection. The village can be reached via a side road from Wejsuny (Groß Weissuhnen) via Koncewo (Konzewen , 1938–1945 Warnold ).
