José Luis Gayà Peña (born May 25, 1995 in Pedreguer , Valencian Community ) is a Spanish football player who is under contract with Valencia CF.

Career

José Gayà was born in 1995 in the small town of Pedreguer , Alicante in the Valencian Community . At Valencia CF he started playing football and went through the youth department of the club.

In 2012 he made his debut at senior level when he for the Mestalla in a game in the third class, the second team of FC Valencia Segunda División B came off the bench. In the 2011/12 season, however, it remained with this one use. In the coming seasons 2012/13 (18 appearances, 1 goal) and 2013/14 (26 appearances, 2 goals) he ran regularly for Mestalla .

He also played for the first team for the first time on October 30, 2012, in the 2-0 win against UE Llagostera in the 2nd round of the Copa del Rey , he was used for the full season. During the 2012/13 season he was on the bench in several games in the league and the UEFA Champions League , but was not used for the time being. In the 2013/14 season he was introduced to the first team and finally made his debut on December 12, 2013 in the UEFA Europa League and on April 27, 2014 against Atlético Madrid in the Primera División .

Since the 2014/15 season , Gayà has been part of the squad of the first team at Valencia CF and has established himself as a regular on the left side of defense.

National team

Gayà went through all Spanish youth national teams from the U-17 selection. At the U-20 World Cup in 2013 , which took place in Turkey , he was part of the squad of the Spanish U-20 selection and also played a role in the 2-1 victory in the group game against eventual tournament winners France . A few days after the end of the U-20 World Cup, he also took part in the U-19 European Championship in 2013 , in which he played three games.

On September 9, 2014 Gayà made his debut in the European Championship qualifier against Austria for the U-21 national team .
