Mouctar Diakhaby (born December 19, 1996 in Vendôme ) is a French soccer player of Guinean origin who has been under contract with the Spanish first division club Valencia CF since July 2018 . The central defender played for the French U19 , U20 and U21 national teams.

Olympique Lyon

Mouctar Diakhaby was in Vendôme , the son Guinean born parents and grew up in Nantes on. He played in the youth division of USSA Vertou and FC Nantes before moving to the Olympique Lyon youth academy in 2013 . In January 2014, he played for the first time for the reserve team Olympique Lyon II. The following seasons 2014/15 and 2015/16 he already played regularly for this selection.

He was promoted to the first team for the 2016/17 season and made his league debut on September 10, 2016 (4th match day) in a 3-1 home defeat against Girondins Bordeaux . On October 18, 2016, he made his UEFA Champions League 2016/17 debut in a 1-0 home defeat by Juventus Turin . In the next time he advanced into the starting lineup. On November 30, 2016 (15th matchday), he met for the first time for OL in the 6-0 away win against FC Nantes. He scored his first goal in an international competition in a 7-1 home win against AZ Alkmaar in the intermediate round of the 2016/17 UEFA Europa League . In both round of 16 games against AS Roma , the central defender also scored and promoted his team to the quarter-finals. With Lyon he failed in the semi-finals at Ajax Amsterdam and in the league they were classified in fourth place in the table. That season he played 22 league games in which he scored one goal. In addition, he scored four hits in 12 other cup competitions.

In the following season 2017/18 Diakhaby lost his regular place and played only 12 league games in which he scored a goal. He scored another goal in nine cup games.

Valencia CF

On June 28, 2018, Mouctar Diakhaby moved to the Spanish first division club Valencia CF for a transfer fee of 15 million euros , where he signed a five-year contract. On August 20, 2018 (1st matchday) he made his league debut in a 1-1 draw against Atlético Madrid . At the Ches, he shuttled between starting line-up, bank and reserve this 2018/19 season . On December 8 (15th matchday) he scored his first goal in his new employer's jersey in a 1-1 draw against Sevilla FC . In the 2018/19 UEFA Europa League they were eliminated in the semi-finals against Arsenal and in the league they placed fourth in the table. In the Copa del Rey 2018/19 things went better for Valencia CF and they were able to defeat FC Barcelona in the final . In this game, Diakhaby came on as defensive cover for striker Rodrigo Moreno in the closing stages . He played 38 competitive games this season, in which he scored three goals.

In the following season 2019/20 he retained his status as a not undisputed regular player.

National team

Mouctar Diakhaby has played for the French U19 national team since November 2014 . In July 2015 he took part with the selection at the U19 European Championship 2015 in Greece , where he was used in all four games over the full distance and was eliminated with the team in the semifinals against Spain . In total, he completed 11 international matches in the U19, in which he scored once.

Between September 2015 and May 2016, he played six international matches for the U20s . He then played nine games for the U21s until May 2018 .
