The İnönü I cabinet was the first government of the Republic of Turkey . İsmet İnönü was Prime Minister from October 30, 1923 to March 6, 1924.
In the parliamentary elections on June 28, 1923, only the Müdâfaa-i hukuk cemiyetleri was allowed, which was renamed Halk Fırkası (from 1935 Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi ) in September 1923 . After the expulsion of the Sultan, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey passed a constitutional amendment on October 29, 1923, declaring Turkey a republic and the President as head of state. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was elected the first president . After the proclamation of the republic with a one-party system, state founder Ataturk İnönü commissioned the formation of a government.
The Sharia Ministry, a holdover from the time of the Ottoman Empire, and the Ministry of the General Staff, which was only temporarily established during the Turkish War of Liberation, were abolished on March 3, 1924. As a result, İnönü resigned to form a new government.
