The Gürsel II cabinet was the 25th government of Turkey , which was headed by Prime Minister Cemal Gürsel from January 5, 1961 to November 20, 1961 .
On May 27, 1960, the Turkish armed forces put the incumbent government of Prime Minister Adnan Menderes out of office. With Cemal Gürsel, they put an ex-general at the helm who had been retired a few weeks earlier because he had criticized the political situation. As President of the 38-member Committee of National Unity , Gürsel became President, Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Army.
With the convening of the constituent assembly, Gürsel reshaped his cabinet. In the election to the National Assembly in Turkey in 1961 , Gürsel was elected President. For a while, Fahri Özdilek headed the government until the election winner İsmet İnönü took over the government .
