The Seidel I cabinet formed the state government of the Free State of Bavaria from October 16, 1957 to December 9, 1958 . The government was formed after the All-German Bloc / Federation of Expellees and Disenfranchised (GB / BHE) and the Bavarian Party (BP) left the SPD- led government under Wilhelm Hoegner . The trigger for this was the federal election in 1957 , in which the Union parties achieved an overwhelming victory. The CSU was then able to persuade the GB / BHE and then the Bavarian party to leave the coalition of four made up of the SPD, GB / BHE, BP and FDP . On October 8, 1957 Prime Minister Hoegner resigned and Hanns Seidel formed a coalition of CSU, GB / BHE and FDP which had a majority of 115 of the 204 seats in the state parliament. After the state elections in 1958, this government was followed by the second cabinet under Hanns Seidel .
