Karine Laurent Philippot (* as Karine Philippot on October 29, 1974 in Mulhouse ) is a French cross-country skier .

Career

Karine Laurent Philippot studied sports and is now a sports soldier . The married athlete lives in Rougemont and competes for Emhm Ranspach . Philippot first appeared in Argentière in December 1993 in the Continental Cup in an international race. Just a month later she ran her first Junior World Championship in Breitenwang and was 43rd over 5 and 14th over 15 kilometers. In the following time, the young Frenchwoman was used in the Continental Cup and FIS races and often achieved single-digit results. In February 1995 she won an FIS race for the first time over 10 kilometers in Kandersteg . A month later, she started at the 1995 Nordic World Ski Championships in Thunder Bay . The best result was 31st place over 30 kilometers. For the 1995/96 season Philippot made his debut in Gällivare in the cross-country skiing world cup . Over 10 kilometers she was 56. But it was not until December 1996 that the French woman was able to collect World Cup points for the first time in Brusson as 22nd over 15 kilometers. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim in 1997 , Philippot was 17th over 15 kilometers, 68th over 5 kilometers and 45th in the pursuit.

In 1998 Philippot started in Nagano at their first Olympic Games . In Japan, she finished 52nd over 5, 33rd in the pursuit, and 22nd over 30 kilometers. In December 1990, she achieved a top ten result for the first time in a sprint race in Kitzbühel as tenth . In February 2001, shortly before the Nordic World Ski Championships in Brusson , she won a Continental Cup race over 10 kilometers. At the World Championships in Lahti , Philippot was 12th in the pursuit and 25th in the sprint. Only a little later she won the bronze medal over 10 kilometers at the military world championships in Colchester . The next major event was the 2002 Olympic Games of Salt Lake City . In the competitions of Soldier Hollow , the French could finish eighth over 15 kilometers and 18th in the pursuit. Only a little later she won the 10 kilometer title at the Military World Cup in Kranjska Gora . In Oslo she was able to finish fourth in a World Cup race over 30 kilometers at the end of the season. Between April 2002 and December 2003 Philippot did not contest any races.

After her break, Philippot came back stronger than ever before. More often she could now place herself among the best. The Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdorf also brought good results. Over 10 kilometers she was 15th, together with Aurélie Perrillat-Collomb sixth in the team sprint and ninth with the relay of France. After the World Championships, she reached a first podium finish in Lahti over 10 kilometers as third place. In the 2006 Olympic Games of Turin , in Pragelato plan were held, was Philippot 20th of persecution, Ninth and Eleventh in the relay in the 30-kilometer race. After the games she was again military world champion over 10 kilometers in Andermatt . She won this competition a third time in 2007 in Haanja . A little before that, in Lahti at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2007, she did not achieve any notable results. In the 2006/07 season she achieved her best result in the World Cup in Changchun as second behind Kateřina Neumannová in a 10-kilometer freestyle race and finished the Tour de Ski 2006/07 in 12th place. In addition, she achieved her best result in this ranking with 18th place in the overall ranking.

The following season Philippot came in 31st place in the 2007/08 Tour de Ski . At the military World Cup in Hochfilzen , the French Evi Sachsenbacher-Stehle had to admit defeat in 2008 and came second. At the Transjurassienne 2008 she took second place. The following year she won this run. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 , she achieved 18th place in the 15 km pursuit race, 11th place in the 30 km mass start race and eighth place with the relay. In the 2009/10 season she finished 15th in the Tour de Ski 2009/10 . Her best placings at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver were 10th in the 30km mass start race and sixth in the relay.

Philippot took part in 137 individual World Cup races and was among the top ten 15 times.
