Karl Christian von Weyrach (born July 1, 1782 in Anklam , † June 26, 1869 in Berlin ) was a Prussian general of the infantry .

Life

Weyrach came from a family that had been raised to the bohemian nobility on July 20, 1702 . He was the son of the Prussian captain a. D. Christian Sigismund von Weyrach (1740–1823) and his wife Luise, née von Buddenbrock (1764–1796). She was the daughter of the Prussian Major General Ludwig von Buddenbrock .

Military career

At the age of ten Weyrach came to the court of King Friedrich Wilhelm II as a page . On April 23, 1799, he was employed as an ensign in the infantry regiment of Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia . There Weyrach became second lieutenant in mid-February 1803 and joined the grenadier battalion 5/20 as adjutant the following year . In this position he took part in the Battle of Jena and Auerstedt in 1806 during the Fourth Coalition War. At the beginning of December he came to the 1st West Prussian Reserve Battalion and fought in February 1807 at Prussian Eylau . After the peace of Tilsit he was promoted to prime lieutenant and was adjutant to Yorck . During the Wars of Liberation , Weyrach, meanwhile risen to Major , held the same position with General Bülow . He took part in the battles near Möckern , Großgörschen , Bautzen , Großbeeren , Leipzig , Laon , Paris , Ligny and Waterloo . Weyrach received the Iron Cross II. Class for the battle near Halle and the First Class Cross for Dennewitz .

At the end of April 1815, Weyrach joined Blücher as an adjutant and on October 4, 1815, became a lieutenant colonel . In mid-January 1816 he was assigned to the War Ministry . On June 9, 1817 he was appointed commander of the 10th Infantry Regiment (1st Silesian) and promoted to colonel on September 19, 1818 with a patent from October 12, 1818 . This was followed by a position as commander of the 14th Infantry Brigade in Düsseldorf from October 30, 1825 to March 2, 1834 . As a major general , Weyrach was then inspector of the occupying forces of the federal fortresses . On March 30, 1835, he was assigned to lead the 3rd Division in Stettin, and Weyrach was appointed commander of this large unit two years later . In the meantime promoted to Lieutenant General, Weyrach was from May 9, 1840 with the leadership of the III. Army Corps instructed. On September 10, 1840, he was finally appointed commanding general of the corps .

His longstanding services were honored by being awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 1st Class with Oak Leaves. On the occasion of its 50th anniversary service King appointed him Friedrich Wilhelm IV. The chief of the 10th Infantry Regiment. At his request, Weyrach was on October 4, 1849 award of the character as General of Infantry with the statutory board for disposition made.

After his death on June 30, 1869, Weyrach was buried in the Invalidenfriedhof .

family

He married Amalie von Saucken (1795-1858) on November 9, 1814 in Tarputschen . The son Kamil Karl (1815–1849) emerged from the marriage.
