Keith Langford (born September 15, 1983 in Fort Worth , Texas ) is an American basketball player . In the 2007/08 season he played briefly in the NBA for the San Antonio Spurs . Langford won the EuroChallenge 2008/09 with Virtus Bologna and the ABA League 2012 with Maccabi Tel Aviv . He was named “ Most Valuable Player ” (MVP) of the final tournament. His brother Kevin, who is two years his junior, also plays as a professional basketball player in Europe.
Career
The 1.93 m tall guard played at the University of Kansas , where he completed his college career as the sixth-best points collector in college history (1,812 points). In the 2005 NBA Draft , however, he was not selected by any NBA club.
In the 2005/06 season Langford played for the Fort Worth Flyers in the NBA Development League and the Kansas Cagerz in the USBL. He then played one season in the Italian second division LegADue with Vanoli Soresina.
Keith Langford got a chance to play in the NBA in 2007. He was invited to the San Antonio Spurs training camp, but was released on October 24th . He then moved to the NBA D-League for the Austin Toros. On December 28th he got a contract with the San Antonio Spurs, which owns the Toros. On the same day, he played the first NBA game of his career against the Toronto Raptors . After only two completed games, Langford was released from the Spurs on January 7, 2008 . He was then reassigned to the Austin Toros on January 9th . On February 16, he took part in the D-League All-Star Game as part of the NBA All-Star Weekend and scored nine points and four rebounds . On March 4, the Toros announced that Langford had left the team.
On March 6, 2008 Langford moved back to Italy, where he played for Angelico Biella in Serie A for the rest of the 2007/08 season and recorded an average of 13.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.8 steals in nine games could. Langford also played in Italy in the 2008/09 season. He signed a contract with Virtus Bologna where he helped Virtus win the EuroChallenge title. He scored 21 points in the final against Cholet Basket and was named MVP .
On July 8, 2009, Langford moved to BK Chimki in the Russian Oblast of Moscow . In the ULEB Euroleague he was named Player of the Week on the fifth day of the main round in the 2009/10 season . In the following season he succeeded in 2011 with Chimki winning the title in the supranational Eastern European VTB United League . Despite a contract extension in March 2011, they separated before the start of the 2011/12 season. After BK Chimki was taken over by Rimas Kurtinaitis as coach, they separated in the pre-season for the following season. It was officially announced that it was unclear whether Langford would return to his old level of performance after injuries. A month later he signed a contract with the Israeli serial master Maccabi from Tel Aviv . With Maccabi he again won the national double from championship and cup victory, but in the ULEB Euroleague 2011/12 was the last stop in the quarter-final play-offs against defending champion Panathinaikos Athens . In return, the first time they took part, they won the Adriatic Basketball Association 2012 in the final game in front of their own audience, in which Langford was named MVP of the Final Four tournament.
For the 2012/13 season Langford again signed a contract in the Italian Serie A with runner-up EA7 Emporio Armani from Milan , with whom he was also champion in the 2013/14 season.
