Kleingurmels is a locality and formerly an independent political municipality in the lake district (French: District du Lac) in the canton of Friborg in Switzerland . The French name of the village is Cormondes-le-Petit . On January 1, 2000, Kleingurmels was incorporated into Gurmels .

geography

Kleingurmels lies at 558  m above sea level. M. , 1.5 km southeast of Gurmels and 7.5 km southeast of the district capital Murten (linear distance). The farming village extends on the gently sloping southern slope of the Großholzes , over the northern shore of the Schiffenensee , in the northern Freiburg Central Plateau . The former municipality area was only 0.3 km², which is why Kleingurmels was the smallest municipality in the canton of Friborg before the merger. The area extended from the Schiffenensee northwards over the plateau of Kleingurmels to the edge of the forest of Großholzes ( 570  m above sea level ).

population

With 130 inhabitants (2000), Kleingurmels was one of the small communities in the canton of Friborg before the merger. In 1850 the community had 119 inhabitants, in 1900 91 inhabitants. After a decline until 1970 (75 inhabitants), a significant increase in population has been recorded since then.

economy

Until the middle of the 20th century, Kleingurmels was predominantly an agricultural village. Even today, arable farming , fruit growing and animal husbandry have an important place in the income structure of the population. Other jobs are available in local small businesses and in the service sector, including a carpenter's workshop. In the last few decades the village has also developed into a residential community. Many employed people are therefore commuters who mainly work in the Freiburg and Murten regions.

traffic

The village has good transport links. It is on the connecting road from Murten to Düdingen . The closest connection to the A12 motorway (Bern-Vevey) is around 6 km from the town center. Kleingurmels is connected to the public transport network through the Postbus course, which runs from Kerzers to Düdingen.

history

Kleingurmels was a district of Gurmels until after 1800 and shared its fate. The village did not appear in the municipal registers until 1855, but had a joint municipal administration with Gurmels. After a vote in the community assembly, Kleingurmels broke away completely from Gurmels in 1982. As part of the community mergers that the canton of Friborg has been promoting since 2000, the village population decided to join forces with the large neighboring community. With effect from January 1, 2000, Kleingurmels was therefore incorporated into Gurmels .
