Agriswil (in local dialect : [ ˈɑg̊əɾʒ̊ʋiːu̯ ], French Agrimoine , neulat. Ager Monachorum , Friborg Patois ) is a village in the municipality of Ried bei Kerzers in the lake district of the canton of Friborg in Switzerland . Agriswil was an independent political municipality until December 31, 2005 . On January 1, 2006, it was merged into its neighboring municipality to the west of Ried bei Kerzers.
Surname
The place is the first time in 1275 as Agerswyle occupied in 1340 as Grivilliar , 1385 as Ariswile 1405 as Agrechtzwile , 1413 as Agreswil and Grevillar . The name is composed of an Old High German personal name Agihar / Agirich / Agar or similar and Romanesque villare / German wîlâri as a trailing element ; It remains unclear whether the place name is originally a Romance or a German formation. The new French name Agrimoine , Latinized ager monachorum , did not appear until the 16th century and may refer to the property of the Münchenwiler Priory .
