history
The village with the then Tatar name Qurman was founded in the early 1860s. In the years 1874–1875 a train station was built in the village. From November 1, 1941 to April 12, 1944, the place was occupied by Wehrmacht troops. After the deportation of the Crimean Tatars , the village was renamed from Kurman-Kemeltschi (Ukrainian Курма́н-Кемельчі́ ) to Krasnohwardijske (derived from the Russian word Красная гвардия / Krasnaja gwardija for Red Guard ). In 1957 Krasnohwardijske received the status of urban-type settlement.
