State Sportsman of the Year (Hessen)

The election for Hesse's athlete of the year is organized by the State Sports Association of Hesse . It is carried out by a jury made up of editors-in-chief and sports department heads from the Hessian media. The award will take place in autumn during an Olympic ball night in the Wiesbaden Kurhaus . The prize money is 1000 euros per category or 500 euros for newcomers.

Fabian Hambüchen won the men's award six times, Betty Heidler five times.
