execution
On the IAAF website there is only one list of results for all technical disciplines with the final result for all participants. A qualification is not listed there for any jumping, pushing or throwing competition. Accordingly, all thirteen long jumpers started together in a group for the final. It is not clear how many attempts were available to the athletes and whether after the third round, as was common at the Olympic Games at the time, for example, the best six jumpers went into a final with three more rounds.
At the Olympic Games during this time, it was common practice in the technical disciplines to first conduct a qualifying round on the morning of the competition day if the number of participants was not too small. This preliminary round was held in two groups. The final with the qualified athletes usually took place in the afternoon of the same day.
