Continuation of Part I: List of the names of German warships (A – M)

The list of names of German warships includes all ships of the following navies:

The names are listed in alphabetical order without taking prefixes (e.g. SMS) into account. If the list becomes too long, it will be split up.

For each name there is a heading (bold), including the individual namesake in the order in which the name begins. As far as this makes sense, names with several components are listed twice (e.g. Fürst Bismarck under F and B ).

The following are given: Name , period of name use in the naval forces mentioned, type, class, navy. Further details go beyond the list and should not be included here.

Remarks

  1. Because the transition from the designation "Bundesmarine" to "Deutsche Marine" was only a matter of renaming, the one in front of it, d. H. were put into service until 1995, only "Bundesmarine" indicated, then "German Navy"
  2. a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o Initially, the boats only had the alphanumeric designation S XX. The names were officially added in 1982 after they had already been used by the crews.
  3. a b c d Approx. 1936/37 by the Kriegsmarine bought fish steamer which z. T. had already served as outpost boats in the First World War. First converted as auxiliary minesweepers, then a school boat. In the course of the war, the boats were given different identifiers as outpost boats instead of their names.
  4. The assignment of this name as early as 1940 needs to be checked because in this case there would have been two ships with the same name before the aforementioned boat was sunk in 1942.
