A church built between 1634 and 1637 was rebuilt and enlarged in Baroque style in 1727/28, presumably according to plans by Gallus Gratl . The hall structure has a transept-like extended south yoke, a recessed, polygonal closed choir and tower on the east side of the choir. The north facade is structured with corner pilasters, an attached volute gable and a stone-framed round arch portal and with a gable fresco Mariae Heimsuchung and niches with baroque statues of St. Sebastian and Blasius decorated. Inside, the nave and choir have a barrel vault with stitch caps, the ceiling paintings were created in 1825 by Josef Anton Kirchebner .

The open chapel shrine comes from the first half of the 19th century. There is a baroque crucifix in the carved niche with a wedge stone .

The brick chapel shrine with a gable roof was built on the gorge wall after 1856. In the barred arched niche there is a baroque statue of St. Johannes Nepomuk.

On a hill north of Birgitz a hill settlement of the Fritzens-Sanzeno culture from the 1st millennium BC was established. Exposed. Thirteen houses of the Rhaetian type have been identified, of which the foundation walls are still preserved. The finds include fibulae , glass bracelets, dishes, tools, bronze and iron bars and a loom.
