A miracle of the host in 1384 triggered a much-attended pilgrimage. Duke Friedrich IV had a larger church built from 1423 to 1431. The late Gothic staggered church was expanded in 1474 and 1604. The four-bay nave is followed by a three-bay, drawn-in choir with a three-sided choir closure. The interior has a richly ornamented ribbed vault from 1465/1466 and Gothic wall paintings from the 15th and 16th centuries. On the north side of the choir there is a two-story extension with the sacristy. The Holy Blood Chapel, which was built in 1574 and provided with rich stucco work in the 18th century, is located on the upper floor.

The old cemetery around the church was replaced in 1954 by the new cemetery on the outskirts.
