The late Gothic building was built around 1490. In 1789 the orientation of the church was changed with the addition of a baroque choir in the west and the redesign of the former choir in the east into a vestibule. The four-bay nave is structured with pointed arched windows and massive three-quarter high buttresses. Inside, the nave is provided with a needle cap barrel and the choir with a hanging flat dome. The ribs on the triumphal arch and stitch caps as well as keystones with coats of arms have been preserved from the Gothic vault. The ceiling paintings in the nave were created by Josef Schmutzer the Younger in 1779 and show scenes from the life of St. Sigmund. In the choir there are ceiling paintings by Joseph Leopold Strickner from 1790, on the gallery balustrade paintings by Rafael Thaler from 1932. In the northeast of the nave there is a rectangular, groin-vaulted room with late Gothic wall paintings from 1486/1487.
